KINDERGARTEN

MRS. DEBBY SCHMIDT – Full- and Half-Day
MRS. JANET SALINAS – Full- and Half-Day

We really enjoyed VIP day and sharing Kindergarten activities with our special visitors. They helped us make some comical "egg people" - egg-shaped characters with fun bows, hats, boots, tennis shoes, and big big smiles. We have just finished studying the Bible story of Moses and how God "passed over" the Hebrew homes with blood on their door frames. This ties in with Jesus going into Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover before His death. We’re getting lots of practice with counting money and putting our sounds together to form words. There sure is a lot to do in Kindergarten. Mrs. Schmidt and Mrs. Salinas

Snow + Snowmen + Kindergartners = a great picture gallery in our hallway. Check us out! We have been busy counting down to the 100th day of school - our number chart is almost full (10 more school days). We have been busy designing and copying shapes on geoboards, counting with pennies and dimes, and learning our number words! This week, we also composed our own poems. Mrs. Salinas and Mrs. Schmidt

We went on our first field trip yesterday. The County Line Orchard was so much fun! We rode on a tractor-driven wagon into the orchards where we picked our own bag of apples. We learned how bees help make apples and saw a cider press make the cider. The Kids Farm had a donkey, chicks, pigs, and calves for us to pet. The bus rides to and from the orchard were a first for several of us. Mrs. Schmidt

There are 25 children in Kindergarten this year, and we are READY TO GO. Already we have been learning the routines of school - following directions, using our manners, sharing, how to be quiet in the hallways, eating lunch together and more. We know each other’s names by face and by reading the words. We just finished our Western Unit which had activities for shape, number, and letter recognition, counting, and printing. Now our teachers know some areas where we need some help and some areas that we can do really well. We enjoy having Mrs. Hutcheson, Mrs. Weller, and Mrs. Michalski take us out for recess and do class activities with us. We have been reminded of how much Jesus loves us as we study the Bible story of "Jesus and the Children." We love Kindergarten!
