Congratulations to the 22 students from St. Paul's Lutheran selected for National Junior Honor Society. Eligibility for NJHS is a 3.60 GPA and higher. The purpose of this chapter will be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, to encourage the development of character, and to foster active citizenship in students of St. Paul's Lutheran School.
On Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00 p.m. there will be an Induction Ceremony for NJHS members and
their families in the gym. This ceremony is to acknowledge these students and celebrate their
membership. We ask that the students dress up for this event as they will be presented with a NJHS pin and certificate. There will be a cake and punch reception following the ceremony, and we will be finished prior to 7:00 p.m. Lenten worship service.
Due to all the controversial concerns surrounding the amount of time and ISTEP testing, the actual testing has been reduced from 6.5 hours to 3.5hours. I fully support this decision. This week, students in grades 3-8 will take three online tests in English/Language Arts and one math test. Students in grades 4 and 7 will take a Science test online the following week. I will keep you posted on any ISTEP updates as we proceed into testing time.
_Thank you to Mrs. Wilinski and her volunteers for all of their hard work with the 2015 Book Fair. It is real a time commitment to organize the book fair and put all of the book items out on display. As usual, we had an outstanding book fair. St. Paul's Lutheran School benefits from our book fair--not only do our students purchase great books to keep them engaged in reading, but we also receive new books in our classrooms. The book fair profits are used to assist LPTL with future activities for our school. The cash profit to LPTL was $800. An additional $700 in books was purchased for the classrooms and library. We have $240.00 to spend with Scholastic for classroom needs.
