CALUMET REGION SCIENCE FAIR AT IUN
Julie Puvogel (6) received the Navy Award for Excellence. Rachel Foster (7) earned the Army Award for Excellence. Eighth Grader Alison Bergmann earned a Gyte Scholarship, Kids College Scholarship, was nominated for "Discovery Channel Young Scientist Challenge", and placed first overall in her division! Congratulations to our young scientists!
TIMES SPELLING BEE
Congratulations our seventh grader Haley Boblink! Haley advanced from the District Bee to become the 2005 Seventh Grade Champion for the whole IL/IN region at the Annual Times Spelling Bee.
VALPARAISO MATH TOURNAMENT
High praise to our students who represented St. Paul’s at the 38th Northwest Indiana Invitational Math Tournament held at Valparaiso University. Individually, 8th graders Mitch Hanak placed 2nd and Daniel Coffey took 3rd; Seventh grader Nicole Reinsma placed 2nd. After all the numbers were crunched, spindled and folded, the team came in Second Place overall!
ST. PAUL'S CONCERT BAND
All band students in 5-8th grade participated in the annual ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Competition. St. Paul's students earned 32 First Place and 5 Second Place Medals. Beginning Band members in 4th grade participated in the CYO contest in Highland. Both bands performed beautifully at the the Christmas Concert, the Spring Musical and VIP Day.

Our students represented St. Paul’s at the regional Readers' Digest Word Power Challenge, the National Geographic Geography Bee, and the Academic Bowl in LaPorte, IN.

PRESIDENTIAL PHYSICAL FITNESS AWARDS
Scoring is very tough in a month-long set of physical challenges from the mile run to chin-ups. Cody Eitzen (8), and Olivia Wagner (4) achieved the highest honor, the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. All students participated and 47 earned the National Award!
F.A.M.E. CONCERT OF COLORS
Five students artworks were selected to be shown during a special performance of the Northwest Indiana Symphony, attended by the artists in February: Kelsey Lynch (2), Laurel Demkovich (2), Lily Eitzen (3), Meaghan Mason (1), and Sydney Ryckman (4).
STUDENT COUNCIL
Student Officers Chelsea Reed (8), Mackenzie Perovich (8), Rachael Heiniger (7), and Rachel Foster (7) led the Council in activities which included: two Middle School dances, 6 Spirit Days, Chili Dinner for Tsunami Victims (raised over $1,000), Hoops for Hearts activity (nearly $1,000 raised), and serving as tour guides, lunch help, and clean-up crew for Open House and VIP Day.
HEARTWARMERS
Heartwarmers is a brand new group of students dedicated to spending one-on-one time with Seniors in nursing homes after school. This excited set of students from all ages already made two visits to Hartsfield Village at the end of the school year.
GRADUATION
An unprecedented four students finished their Middle School careers at St. Paul's with over a 4.0 cumulative average to make two valedictorians, Alison Bergmann, and Daniel Coffey, and two salutatorians, Katie Minton and Holly Stevens. Nicole Reinsma also gave an address as 7th grade valedictorian.
