Lunch from home & milk

K-8 students are always welcome to bring their own sack lunch from home. Parents, please restrict candy and excessive treats as they are disruptive. Soft drinks are prohibited during the school day. Milk (2% white and flavored) is available each day for 35cents, cash-and-carry in the lunch room. Milk is included in the cost of Hot Lunch. Sack lunches will occasionally be required from home on days when the School Town of Munster is not serving.

STPL Hot Lunch Program

Our Hot Lunch Program is designed just for us through the School Town of Munster, and is a nutritious and affordable option for students. We’ve recently adopted the same cost management app as other schools in Munster: My School Bucks. Same great lunches— simpler way to keep an eye on your balance. All K-8 hot lunches (hot lunch and fun lunch) served through St. Paul's are billed $3.60 per lunch through this pre-loaded account. Your student will need to have a balance in the MySchoolBucks account in order to be served a hot lunch.

Hot lunch is included in the cost for all full-time Preschool students and is served in the Multi-Purpose Room. 1st-8th hot lunches are served from the Kitchen Counter in the Gym and are taken to the Lunch Room. There is usually a main "hot lunch" on the menu (ex. Cheeseburger and tator tots, chicken drumstick and breadstick, pasta with meat sauce) as well as a "fun lunch" option (ex. yogurt, cheese sticks, nachos, cold cereal). These are selected at the start of each day by students. Download the Nutrislice app to have mobile access to the SP menu.

​Milk is included in the cost of Hot Lunch and is available in the Lunch Room. Bagged lunches will occasionally be required from home on days when the School Town of Munster is not serving.

1. Go to myschoolbucks.com or download the mobile app  "MySchoolBucks" on your phone or tablet from the Apple or Google App Store.
2. Open and create your free account by clicking "Create Account" (District= St Paul Lutheran Munster; School= Saint Paul Lutheran)
3. Add each student using the school Saint Paul, student name, & student ID.*
4. Preload student's account based on their past usage
5. Check out using your credit / debit card or electronic check.

​FAQs

If we use Hot Lunch, do we have to commit to it every day, or can we choose days?
Yes, you can look ahead on the Nutrislice Menu, or the menus posted in classrooms, to choose which days your student would like a Hot Lunch. Students declare at the start of the day what lunch they will have, so that we can get a head-count. They will be given a ticket to turn in to the Kitchen at lunchtime.

Is the hot lunch itself changing?
No. The hot lunch program will continue to look the same for our students— balanced meals planned and prepared through a partnership with the School Town of Munster. The menu will remain the same and students will still indicate their choices of hot lunch or fun lunch at the start of the day.

Does this change include a pricing change?
No. The app and the account are free to set up and the cost per lunch remains at $3.50. There is a small transaction fee each time you reload, which St. Paul's will cover for the first year. So best practice is to load up for several weeks or more at a time.

Do the funds rollover to the next school year?
Yes. At the end of the school year, funds will remain associated with your student until the following school year. If there is a balance when your student graduates or moves, you will be refunded.

Do we still need to open an account if we get assistance with hot lunch?
Yes, if you are on a Reduced Lunch plan, you will need to preload your account to cover the reduced amount. If you are on a Free Lunch plan, you only need to open an account if you would like to keep track of how often your child receives lunch. Please contact Carolyn or Jan in the Finance Office for more information.

Is there a grace period if I forget to reload?
Yes, in an emergency, your child will eat that day and we will debit your account-- but be mindful to reload ASAP to avoid extra fees. Keep notifications on the app ON, to be reminded of low balances. There is also an option to auto-load.

Is there a transaction fee to reload?
Yes, there is a small transaction fee each time you reload, which St. Paul's will cover for families the first year. So best practice is to load up each student for several weeks or more at a time.

Can I pay for other SP fees or items through My School Bucks?
No, right now My School Bucks only manages the hot lunch program at St. Paul's. All other fees will be invoiced through Facts.

How secure is My School Bucks?
Since it links to your personal financial account, the app and online sign-in will ask for identity verification through your cell or email.

Can I check the SP menu from the My School Bucks app?
No, the MySchoolBucks app will only track usage, balance, and payment history. Download the Nutrislice app to have mobile access to the SP menu (District: School Town of Munster, school St. Paul's Lutheran)
