TRIP, as we call it at St. Paul's, is a unique fundraising opportunity that not only benefits STPL but helps your family directly. Through the RaiseRight app, families buy Scrip (gift cards) for participating stores, either physical cards or e-cards (a digital gift card with a bar code that gets scanned from your phone at checkout.) Depending on the brand, you earn a percentage of your face-value purchase toward your account in STPL's TRIP program.
Physical cards ordered by Monday morning are either delivered in bulk to school and distributed that Friday, or some can be delivered to your home for a fee. E-cards can be saved in your app's "wallet" or can be emailed as a gift, right from your phone. Purchases are made by connecting your bank account to the app, and each debit transaction (each time you check-out thru Raise Right) charges a 29 cent fee. Credit card purchasing is available, but at a much higher rate (3%). Every spring, your account is tallied-- 15% is reserved for STPL and the costs of the program, and we allow families to apply the remaining 85% as a credit off of their own (or a designated family's) tuition. And now, for the first time, we are encouraging middle school students that your account can be credited toward your 8th grade class trip! Since the app is directly linked to your bank account, you can use the app in-store to buy softball equipment on sale at Dick's, or send a gift e-card for Longhorn Steakhouse to your brother directly to his email from your phone. By using the program to purchase things you already need and use (Walmart, Meijer, Home Depot, Wayfair, even Southwest) your earnings-- or even Grandma's purchases toward your earnings-- accumulate in your STPL account.
